Tractor Maintenance Knowledge During The Agricultural Off-season
Oct 30, 2024
The maintenance of tractors that have been parked for a long time cannot be ignored. During the parking period, the following maintenance work should be done:
(1) Tire deformation cannot be ignored.
Tires are made of rubber and can deform when parked due to the weight of the vehicle itself. If parked for a long time and the tire position remains unchanged, the deformation of the tire will develop from elastic deformation to plastic deformation, causing rubber aging and deterioration, and loss of performance. Therefore, for vehicles that have been parked for a long time, the body should be supported or the vehicle should be moved back and forth every few days to avoid the weight of the body being pressed on the same position of the tires for a long time.
(2) Pay attention to replenishing lubricating oil.
During long-term parking, the lubricating oil in the engine will deteriorate by coming into contact with oxygen and acidic/alkaline components in the air, forming a gel like object and losing its lubrication function. This can lead to poor lubrication between the cylinder and piston when restarting the engine. Therefore, before the tractor is parked for a long time, the engine oil of the diesel engine should be changed and the tractor should be turned on and run for 5 minutes. The advantage of doing so is to circulate the engine oil to all moving parts inside the entire diesel engine body. For tractors that have been out of service for a long time, start the engine at least once a month to maintain normal lubrication inside the engine.
(3) Prevent battery vulcanization.
A battery is essentially an electrochemical reaction vessel that undergoes electrochemical changes even when not in use, gradually discharging on its own. If not charged in time, after excessive discharge, the active substance on the electrode plate gradually forms coarse and hard lead sulfate, which is scrapped. Therefore, if the vehicle is not used for a long time, the engine should be started every 30 days and run at medium speed for about 30 minutes. If there is a dedicated charger, the battery should be removed, the outer surface should be cleaned, and after being fully charged, Vaseline should be applied to the electric pile and placed in a clean and relatively warm room. During storage, charge at least once a month to prevent vulcanization or frost cracking.
(4) Prevent fuel deterioration.
During long-term parking of the vehicle, the fuel and oxygen in the fuel tank will undergo oxidation and produce gum, which not only deteriorates the starting performance of the diesel engine, but also accelerates the wear of the components and shortens the service life of the diesel engine. Therefore, during parking, it is important to avoid contact between diesel and air. Tractors that have been parked for a long time should be filled with diesel and tightly sealed to reduce air in the fuel tank. Secondly, it is necessary to add diesel with good stability. The third is to regularly inspect and replace diesel. The fourth step is to empty the diesel from the fuel tank.
