Types of Cultivators
 

Manual cultivators

Gardeners who have smaller gardens or those who have a relatively small number of plants may find that the use of manual cultivators is perfectly acceptable. These types of cultivators are most often used to cultivate the top two inches of soil.

Multi farm hand cultivator

Application of Cultivator

This series of tillage machines can be used for field tillage operations of crops such as corn, soybeans, cotton, potatoes, etc. It can complete tillage, deep loosening, trenching, ridge formation and other field operations in one go. It has the characteristics of convenient row spacing adjustment, flexible depth control, convenient ridge width adjustment, and wide range of use.

 

 

Components of Cultivator

Depth-band coulter cuts residue and provides depth control. Combination is lighter than a gauge wheel and a coulter, but limits coulter penetration in heavy residue.

 

Guess-row sweep, bolted to an outside shank, lowers hydraulically by remote manual control. Extends sweep coverage across over-wide row middles. Weld on as much sweep as needed.

 

Disk hillers (barring-off disks) can peel weeds away from small crop plants, especially on the sides of ridges, or push soil back into the row to cover weeds. Disks clear residue ahead of in-row tools.

 

Caution: In later cultivations, disks can prune crop roots if run too deeply or too close to the row.

 

Lift-assist wheels use at least one hydraulic cylinder to help the tractor's 3-point hitch hydraulics to raise and transport a rear-mounted implement. Two wheels provide desirable stability.

Safety Gear and Apparel of Cultivator

Wear protective goggles or safety glasses with side shields to protect your eyes from possible objects thrown from the tiller tines. Wear safety shoes with non-slip soles to improve footing on slippery surfaces. Do not use the machine wearing open-toe shoes or while barefoot.

 

Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry that can catch in the machine.


Wear long pants and gloves that fit properly without loose cuffs or strings. Use ear protectors or ear plugs rated for at least 20 dba to protect hearing.
