How To Properly Maintain And Use Tractors in Autumn
Aug 29, 2025
Autumn harvest and planting are imminent. Due to some agricultural machinery being stored for a long time in summer, a comprehensive maintenance and upkeep should be carried out before starting work. Once improper maintenance and use occur in autumn, agricultural machinery is most susceptible to "diseases". Therefore, when using agricultural machinery in autumn, we should:
1. Before use, the agricultural machinery operator should clean the soil, dust, and oil stains from all parts of the tractor. Check whether each exhaust hole is unobstructed, and if there is any blockage, clear it.
2. Check if all parts are loose, especially the moving parts and easily loose parts, which need to be reinforced again. (Drive wheels, gearbox, clutch, etc.)
3. Check whether the steering, clutch, brake and other control devices and lights of the tractor are reliable, and whether the tension of the V-belt is appropriate. If it is severely worn, replace it in a timely manner.
4. Clean or replace the diesel tank filter and diesel filter, maintain the air filter (replace the filter element in dry mode, clean or replace the filter element and add engine oil in wet mode), and clean the oil collection filter.
5. Check for any abnormal phenomena or sounds in the engine, chassis, and other areas, as well as overheating, oil leakage, and water leakage. If any problems are found, they should be promptly resolved and not work with "illness". 6. Replace the lubricating oil that is suitable for the temperature, and clean or replace the filter element at the same time. When draining oil, it is best to use diesel to clean the oil pan, oil passage, and gearbox while it is still hot.
7. If the battery cannot be started due to insufficient power, remove the battery and charge it with a dedicated charger. After sufficient charging, reassemble it and it can be used.
8. When starting the machine at low temperatures, preheating should be carried out. Pay attention to the normal operating temperature of the engine. Only when the water temperature reaches 40 ℃ or above, can it operate at no load; Load operation can only begin at temperatures above 60 ℃; The normal operating temperature should be maintained at 80-95 ℃ to reduce unnecessary engine wear and tear
9. Add lubricating grease to each lubrication point (with grease fittings).
10. The tire pressure should be replenished to the specified requirements, as both too high and too low can affect its service life.
