How To Eliminate Hidden Dangers And Ensure Safe Maintenance Of Agricultural Machinery During The Rainy Season
Jul 25, 2025
With the rapid improvement of agricultural mechanization level in recent years, the problems of agricultural machinery safety production have also become prominent. To promote the continuous and stable improvement of agricultural machinery safety production situation, we would like to introduce some small knowledge on moisture and flood prevention during the rainy season to the vast number of agricultural machinery operators.
Warm rainy season safe driving
The international driving safety survey shows that the traffic accident rate of driving on rainy days is about 5 times higher than usual. Therefore, drivers must be vigilant when driving in rainy weather. Before going out, do a good job of inspection, including checking the sealing condition of the engine hood and the technical condition of the wipers and brakes. If any faults are found, they should be promptly eliminated.
1. Pay attention to the degree of tire wear. When encountering rainy weather, the drainage capacity of tires with excessive wear and tear will deteriorate, and tractors are prone to skidding, which can pose a danger in emergency situations. So remind the driver to remember to check if the tires are worn out and exceed the standard before driving in rainy weather.
2. Remember not to exceed the speed limit or load. During the rainy season, the roads are slippery and difficult to brake, which can easily lead to traffic accidents. When braking, try to slow down about 100m in advance and brake lightly to give the following vehicles enough emergency time to avoid collisions or rear end collisions caused by excessive braking.
3. When passing through waterlogged roads, one should take a detour. When the vehicle passes over roads with accumulated water or muddy mountain roads, village road depressions, etc. where water overflows, the first thing to do is to stop and check the depth of the accumulated water. If the water depth exceeds the exhaust pipe, it is easy to cause the tractor to stall; Water depth exceeds the bumper, making it easy for water to enter. Do not cross ditches or puddles at high speed, as this can cause splashing and increase the actual water depth, which can easily lead to water ingress into the diesel engine.
4. In case of rainstorm, the vision is reduced, the lights should be turned on in time and the pedestrians should be observed. Due to pedestrians holding umbrellas and cyclists wearing rain jackets in the rain, their vision, hearing, and reactions are affected. Sometimes, they also make sharp turns while crossing the road, often panicking and slipping when the tractor approaches, catching the operator off guard. When encountering such a situation, the operator should slow down and patiently avoid it. If necessary, they can choose a safe place to park and must not rush to compete with pedestrians.
Due to the fact that most agricultural machinery is made of iron, heavy rainfall and humid environments have a significant impact on it. If the machinery is not cleaned and maintained in a timely manner, it can seriously endanger its performance and service life, and even lead to safety production accidents.
1. The spring and drive belt are deformed. Cause: If the springs, transmission belts and other parts in agricultural machinery are subjected to long-term stress, they will undergo plastic deformation and cannot recover their original shape after the stress disappears. Response measures: All compressed or opened springs on tractors and harvesters can be relaxed, such as the intake and exhaust valves of the engine, which should be placed in the closed state; The drive belt can be removed and placed.
2. Mechanical corrosion. Cause: Prolonged storage of agricultural machinery can lead to electrochemical corrosion of metal surfaces due to exposure to acidic, alkaline, and salty aqueous solutions, as well as humid air and other media, resulting in gradual metal corrosion. Response measures: Firstly, thoroughly clean before storage. The dust and oil stains on the tractor should be removed, and all lubrication parts should be lubricated according to maintenance regulations. The second is to touch up the paint. Find the areas where the paint has peeled off, reapply the paint, and apply rust proof grease to metal surfaces that are not corrosion-resistant. Thirdly, be careful not to place agricultural machinery in areas that have been exposed to rainwater for a long time. If necessary, plastic film can be used to cover it.
